Today was a gorgeous day, with the mist rising from the fields at Hundenruhe Haven. After a glorious walk in the warmer-than-normal morning air, I headed off to have lunch with my mom. I am so lucky to have her in my life! We had a lovely talk and it reminded me of how much I have to be thankful for. I have the very best possible partner in the world - my husband Dan. And we get to make a difference one dog at a time - getting to know these amazing old souls and receiving their sweet wisdom and spirits. During the week I am blessed with a job where I can inspire and be inspired by the most unique and cool kids on the planet. I live on a fantastic piece of land, where the delights of nature are at my doorstep every day. We have plenty to eat, and fairly reliable transportation. Though we don't get to have many frivolous items in our lives like vacations and big TV's, fancy cars, or expensive clothes, we are blessed with what matters. It is enough.

- Hi, I'm Jodee. My husband, Dan, and I live here at Hundenruhe Haven Senior Dog Sanctuary and TerrierTown with 17 dogs. I am an EXCEL program support teacher for the Manitowoc Public School District, and Dan has retired from teaching. We love our farm and work very hard to ensure happiness for all of the animals in our care. All the animals who come to live here receive good food, warm and soft beds, lap time, and an overabundance of love.

Warriors of the Heart
We understand that the troubled souls, the weak bodied, the ancient, are having a tough go of this world. And so we step up to the loneliest plate and say, “We can take her home until it’s time. We will be her final family.”
We give some very special dogs a loving home before they leave this earth.
We commit to walking alongside these dogs until the last moments. What some people are not strong enough to do for our own pets, we choose to do for dogs we have only known for a month, a week, a day, an hour.
Fiercely we say, “I see you. I love you. You are not a number or a mistake or a victim anymore. You are mine and I will walk with you until the end.”
We are warriors of the heart.

Donations
Because we are not a 501(c)3 organization, all expenses at Hundenruhe Haven are paid for out of our own meager income. Most of our residents are elderly, and require frequent veterinary care, including maintenance medications, blood tests, dental cleanings, etc. and it gets very expensive! For us to be able to continue to give the best care to the maximum number of dogs, we need some help.
